Oh Maaaaaaan , i wish i could give it more than 5 stars !!!!!
Firstly i just love this cover .. Lovely color combination and the dew effect on it makes it look cold and scary !!
Beg for Mercy is the story of Megan Flynn , who is desperate to prove that her brother Sean Flynn has been wrongly accused of rape and murder . Megan is so desperate to save her brother that she gives up living her life and breaks up with her detective boyfriend Cole Williams who was the person who had arrested her brother on charges of rape and murder .
The novel starts off with Megan and Cole spending some private time together which is interrupted by the news that a murder has taken place and Cole is required to look into it immediately . To Megan's surprise its her brother who is at the receiving end of the investigation . All the evidences are against him and he is pleaded guilty . The story moves two years into the future where Sean has been convicted of the charges against him and is sentenced to death . From there on , its all about Megan's never ending faith on her Brother's innocence and her quest to prove him innocent . This is when the book turns into a roller coaster ride because sooo many things start happening all at once . Cole walks back into Megans life , a murderer is on the loose and is killing women and girls in the most gruesome of ways . People are not who they seem and it looks like everyone is entangled in a web of lies , cheat and deception . And it just keeps getting dirtier from there .
Things that i loved about this book :
1) The chemistry between Megan and Cole - HOT HOT HOT HOT & HOT . Feelings which they thought had died or buried deep down resurface again with soooo much heat and ferocity . I could literally feel the heat when i was reading it !! What i really loved about them was that they trusted each other even after going through a huge fall out . Cole was ready to give up his job for Megan just to make it up to her , which i found was really cute ;)
2) The characters are ao well woven by Jamie Alden that it was practically impossible to hate anyone even the bad guy / psychopath / murderer . Yeah , you read it right . I found it extremely difficult to hate him . Even though he kills women in the most disgusting of ways , even though he was the reason an innocent man had to spend 2 yrs of his life locked up in prison , i just couldnt bring myself to hate him . Why you ask ?? Its his past that made me feel bad for him . To go through an abusive relationship and being harrased at the age of 14 is not somethind that can be forgotten easily . Especially at that age it makes a permanent house in young innocent minds . I know that cant be used as an excuse to go around killing people but it was really heart wrenching ( for me ) . There are many other interesting characters in this story like Jack Brooks , Talia Vaga and Kristen Slater to name a few .
3) The writting style was phenomenol . I absolutely loved the changes in POV .. Even though the whole story is told from the narrators point of view , the author manages to give us insight into the minds of the different characters in this book . Thus making it easier to relate to them . The identity of the killer is not known well till almost the end of the book . But what i found amazing was that when Jami finally ' unveils ' the killer she makes it look like " DUH !!!! YOU SHOULD'VE FIGURED IT OUT BY NOW " . That was totally epic ! And i was so happy coz i was right all along .. Trust me when i say this , you'll be surprised .. Coz she makes it look like this certain someone irs the culprit and just when you are relaxing thinking ' yay i've figured it out ' BAAAM she crushes your theories and predictions like a vile insect !!
I loved this book . I cant wait to read the second book . Jami Alden is one fantastic and awesome writer . Its a must read for those who enjoy thriller mysteries !!! :)
